The content of Tortilla Soup is meant to ask questions and beg answers from
the viewer. Is seeing an image of Jesus or the Virgin Mary in a screen
door or on a piece of toast a religious experience? Are we worshiping
these "miracles" because there is so little hope in our world? As protectors and guardians of our lives and homes, cars and cities, how do
these virgin "protectors" react to the violence and neglect in our world?
These photographs and mixed-media sculptures are meant to comment and question
