Las Mesas de Andalucia

These photographs are a documentation of my journey in Spain the summer of 1996 as a Boronda International Art Scholar. They were also my inspiration for a series of ceramic tables that were part of my third gallery exhibition in spring 1998.

The title reflects my experience of convivencia : gathering with the people at table, sharing food and wine until, as if by osmosis, I had fully grasped the differences and similarities of our two cultures. I became a part of Spain, and España part of me.

Each location shown here holds a special significance for me. Just like a dream, they are the beginning an adventure, one that changed my life.
