Las Mesas de Andalucia

These photographs are a documentation of my journey in Spain the summer of 1996 as a Boronda International Art Scholar. They were also my inspiration for a series of ceramic tables that were part of my third gallery exhibition in spring 1998.

The title reflects my experience of convivencia : gathering with the people at table, sharing food and wine until, as if by osmosis, I had fully grasped the differences and similarities of our two cultures. I became a part of Spain, and España part of me.

Each location shown here holds a special significance for me. Just like a dream, they are the beginning an adventure, one that changed my life. Allow yourself to view these photographs in the context of traveler, not tourist. What might you find around the next corner? I trust that you will feel the magic, as did I.
